The Importance of Autism Acceptance: Moving Beyond Awareness
April is Autism Awareness Month, but at Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC), we believe it’s time to shift from awareness to acceptance.
A Vision for the Future: Strengthening Communities Through Behavioral Health Equity
As we close out February and reflect on the significance of Black History Month, I also mark six months of service as the first African American President and CEO of Child Guidance Resource Centers. This journey has been humbling and inspiring, and I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our donors, partners, and stakeholders who make our work possible.
Representation in Therapy Matters
At Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC), our mission is driven by our core values: Respect, Compassion, Integrity, Efficiency, Excellence, and Quality. These values guide our approach to mental health and educational services, ensuring that every child, family, and community we serve receives the highest level of care and support.
We recognize that fostering a sense of belonging is essential for individuals facing mental health challenges. When clients see themselves reflected in their therapists, educators, and support systems, it fosters trust, comfort, and openness—essential elements for healing and growth.
For our clients of color, having a therapist who shares their racial or cultural background can be particularly impactful.
