Black Music Month

African American Music Appreciation Month is celebrated in June to recognize the foundational contributions of Black musicians to American and global culture. Originally designated by President Jimmy Carter in 1979, the month honors genres spanning jazz, blues, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and more. Concerts, education, and tributes mark it.
