Somatic Processing for Survivors of Sexual Trauma

Course Objectives

When verbal processing isn’t reaching the trauma held in the body, clinicians need safe, somatic tools. This workshop teaches evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches to help survivors regulate, attune to bodily signals, and rebuild trust in themselves.

  • Explain how sexual trauma impacts the nervous system and a survivor’s relationship to their body.

  • Use somatic interventions that support body attunement, grounding, and safety.

  • Guide clients in regulating arousal and reconnecting with bodily sensations at a manageable pace.

  • Integrate somatic processing techniques ethically and confidently into trauma-informed clinical practice.
