Sometimes a child needs more support than the home school district can provide. When your child is struggling, it is crucial to provide them with customized care that addresses their specific needs, both academically and emotionally. Child Guidance offers a licensed, private Special Education School for children in grades K-8 in Delaware County who are struggling in their public school classroom. Our school is a structured academic environment, much like mainstream classrooms, and teaches an academic curriculum but with a strong emphasis on social, emotional, and behavioral development.
*The goal for every child in our Elementary Education Services (EES) is to learn the skills necessary to return successfully to his/her own public school district. *Our structured academic environment combined with group therapy, individual counseling, and on-site psychiatric services provides the safe and supportive environment students need.
We work closely with our students’ home school districts throughout their time at our school. We work closely with parents and community supports to ensure children are set up with the tools and support they need to succeed when they return to the public school system. We are proud that every year 85% of students are transitioned successfully to their home district.
*How do I refer to Child Guidance’s Elementary School? * School districts primarily refer students to our Elementary School. Enrollment in the Elementary School at Child Guidance is based on recommendations in a child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). If our school seems like the right fit for a child, parents and providers may request Child Guidance specifically from the district.
