Celebrating Diversity & Connection This Summer

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Council at Child Guidance Resource Centers is proud to share the July/August Connection Board—a space to reflect, learn, and celebrate the richness of our shared humanity.

While Independence Day is a summer tradition for many, these months are also filled with meaningful observances that shine a light on communities whose voices are too often underrepresented.

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and Disability Pride Month, reminding us of the importance of visibility, inclusion, and access to care for all.

On July 18, we honor Nelson Mandela Day, a global celebration of justice, reconciliation, and the power of compassion.

And as we turn the calendar to August, we recognize:

  • Senior Citizens Day (August 21) – Honoring the wisdom and contributions of older adults

  • Women’s Equality Day (August 26) – Celebrating progress while recommitting to equity

  • World Humanitarian Day (August 19) – Recognizing those who put others first in times of crisis

From food to music, art to storytelling, our cultures offer a beautiful lens into the values that connect us. These expressions weave together a vibrant tapestry of belonging, respect, and community.

We invite you to explore the Connection Board, engage with new perspectives, and celebrate what makes us unique—and united.

Every culture, every story, every voice matters.
